term finance certificate (TFC)

Definition

A debt instrument issued by a corporation to raise funds. TFCs typically offer higher rates of return than bank deposits and government bonds. Unlike bonds, TFCs offer investors the option to redeem a portion of the principal during the term of the instrument.
