Definition
An entity sponsored by the government of the People's Republic of China that carries out the business of making investments in overseas securities and commodities that is influenced by the amount of trade surplus that exists in the nation. The CIC mainly invests in U.S. Treasuries, stocks, bonds, and commodities such as gold and oil.
