Definition

A holding company which provides clearing, settlement and information services for equities, bonds, money market securities and over-the-country derivatives. The depository trust and clearing corporation was created in response to Wall Street's "Paperwork Crisis" wherein backlogs due to paperwork hampered the market trading.
