VIX option

Definition

An exchange-traded option that tracks the CBOE Volatility Index, allowing investors to gain exposure to market volatility by betting on volatility increases or decreases over a specified period of time. VIX options may be included in profiles as a hedge against falling markets, as these are usually correlated to increases in volatility.
