unequal voting

Definition

Provisions that expand the voting rights of certain shareholders and limit rights of others. Under substantial shareholder provision of unequal voting, voting power is limited to shareholders who have exceeded a specified threshold of ownership while shareholders having stock for a minimum length of time under time-phased voting are given more votes per share than recent purchasers.
