earnings before interest, depreciation, amortization and exploration (EBIDAX)
Definition
A financial metric unique in oil, gas and mineral firms. The metric is similar to EBITDA as it allows stakeholders to have a more accurate presentation of the earnings generated by the company. Interest, depreciation, amortization and exploration costs are excluded since there are various methods of accounting for these costs.
