perpetual option (XPO)

Definition

An option that does not expire and can be exercised at any time (there is no maturation date on a perpetual option). The investor can choose to exercise the option at an optimal price point instead of being constrained to a specific price. This type of option is unique to the U.S. Also called expiration-less option, non-expiring option.
