cellular manufacturing


A model for workplace design that improves efficiency by grouping similar processes into "cells." Each worker in a cell is expected to master the skills needed to perform all of the cell's operations. Focusing on a limited range of processes allows each cell to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and shorten cycle times.
