Definition

A fixed-debt security issued by private companies, which provides an interest rate that is directly tied to inflation. Some securities may contain a fixed coupon rate but include a rate adjustment if inflation exceeds a certain rate. Often, the security tracks the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
