Farm Price Index (FPI)
Definition
A monthly index of various crop and livestock prices released by the USDA. This index is considered a leading indicator for the Producer Price Index (PPI) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Investors and economist use these indexes in determining the extent of inflation within the economy.
