Libyan Investment Authority (LIA)

Definition

One of the Libyan government's organizations created to manage the country's funds generated from the oil and gas industry and invest them in the international market. The fund is estimated to be worth over $70 billion dollars, and is apparently managed by government officials. The U.S. and some other countries have frozen the LIA's assets with the hope that one day they will serve the Libyan people.
