Purchase and Resale Agreement (PRA)

A system of double purchase where an agreement between the Bank of Canada and a dealer allows the Bank of Canada to purchase Canadian Treasury securities from the dealer who then agrees to buy back the same quantity of securities the next day. PRA acts as a liquidity provider to traders, which subsequently provides liquidity to market trading.
