gilt-edged market maker
Definition
A primary dealer in UK gilts that creates a market through two-way price quoting and competitive bidding. Such a dealer can actively trade in conventional gilts, indexed linked, or both. As a market maker or its legal representative, the dealer can act as a broker or intermediary between two other transacting parties or participate in trades directly.
