living will
Definition
A document in which one specifies which life-prolonging measures one does, and does not, want to be taken if one becomes terminally ill or incapacitated. Most states in the U.S. will recognize living wills, although in some cases living wills are found to be insufficient (are not specific enough or do not address the problem at-hand).
