MBS. Security backed by a pool of mortgages, such as those issued by Ginnie Mae and Freddie Mac. This generates more money for future mortgaging lending. There are also commercial mortgage-backed securities, which are secured by commercial or multi-family properties. also called mortgage-backed certificate.
