Definition 1
A measure of how quickly a fund turns over its holdings during the year. A highly active fund will have a high annual turnover. It is equal to the dollar transaction volume of the trades in one year divided by the total portfolio size, expressed as a percentage.

Definition 2
For a company, the amount of business it conducts during a year, usually measured through income or sales.
