Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
DefinitionPCAOB. An organization which sets and enforces the rules for firms or individuals that audit public companies. The board monitors the auditors to be sure they are following the specified guidelines. The board was created in 2002 by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
