side pocket

A separate account used by hedge funds which includes only their illiquid assets, so that they can be considered separately from their liquid assets. A unique aspect of a side pocket account is that the only people who will benefit from this account are those who were members of the hedge fund when the account was created; any future members will not benefit from this account.
