Definition

A holding company that specializes in insurance-related companies but has a wide array of interests, making it a conglomerate. It was founded in 1839 as a textile company, and did not take on its current form until 1967. It is widely recognized because its long-time CEO is legendary investor Warren Buffett, who is called the "Oracle of Omaha" because Omaha, Nebraska is the headquarters of Berkshire Hathaway.
