core deposits
Banking deposits made by customers in the bank's general market area. A bank considers its core deposits to be a reliable source of funding, since customers in its general market area tend to be loyal and consistent. For example, a business owner who deposits checks at a local bank is less likely to alter his or her depositing habits based on general economic changes, such as interest rate fluctuations. also called primary deposits.
