delivery option
Definition
The options that the seller of an interest rate futures contract can take when settling his or her obligation. The delivery option contains the quality option, timing option and wild card option for the contract. Because the seller can satisfy the requirements of the contract in a variety of ways, the buyer faces a level of uncertainty in terms of delivery date and the type of Treasury Bond that will be delivered.
