Definition
High value, high yield, certificate of deposit (CD) sold in denominations of $95,000 to $100,000 and issued in both negotiable and non-negotiable form. Bought usually by institutional investors such as insurance companies and pension funds. Only the jumbo CDs with principle amount of less than $100,000 are covered under the deposit insurance scheme.
