market model

Definition
Mathematical representation of the interactions among various participants, economic forces, and choices made. There are hundreds or even thousands of market models that attempt to explain or predict the behavior of one or more aspects of a market. In the context of the securities market, for example, one model would try to express how the return on a particular portfolio can be maximized.
