AICPA. National association that acts as a federation of state societies and is made up of certified public accountants that are required to meet specific requirements and pay membership dues. The organization traces its roots back to 1887 when it was called American Association of Public Accountants (AAPA). The organization is made up of over 300,000 certified individuals.
