Definition
BSE. Regional stock exchange based in Boston, Massachusetts. The BSE trades stocks that are also commonly traded on the NYSE, Nasdaq or AMEX. Established in 1834, the BSE is the third-oldest stock exchange in the U.S. About 125 different securities are traded on the BSE either directly or in conjunction with other stock exchanges. It provided linkages to the Montreal Stock Exchange in 1984 as the first U.S. exchange to open its exchange to foreign brokers. Trading hours on the BSE are from 9:30am EST until 4pm EST with a limited crossing network at 5pm.
