A technical analysis charting pattern, formed when the resistance level and support level of a security are parallel to each other, forming the shape of a rectangle. When this situation occurs, a security will usually remain stuck in this range for a while, but will eventually breakout in one direction, and this direction is typically the direction the stock will continue to trend.
