Definition

A check which cannot bounce because its face amount is paid to the bank when it is issued, and the bank then assumes the obligation.

One of the requirements of purchasing my new house was that I had to pay with a cashier's check, this was required because cashier's checks are treated as guaranteed funds since the bank is responsible for paying the amount.
