shooting star
Definition
A candlestick chart pattern that occurs when a security had previously been advancing, and then trades high throughout most of the session, but by the end of the session it ends up closing at a value below its opening price. When charted, a shooting star appears identical to the inverted hammer pattern. A shooting star sometimes indicates a bearish reversal.
