A situation in which certain satellite signals are blocked (or altered) due to the position of the sun in between the satellite and the Earth. This has had an effect on stock market trading, notably in India, where their trading terminals communicate via satellite signal. A sun outage typically occurs around the time of the equinoxes, and if trading continued during that time, signals would either be lost or disrupted. Therefore, in most situations when a sun outage is due to occur, trading at the affected stock exchanges is halted until the outage is over.
