working capital initiative

Definition

Strategic attempts to free up current cash flows or working capital by reducing expenses or increasing revenues. A working capital initiative usually occurs in the short-term for a specific purpose. For example, a company may implement a working capital initiative to free up more funds for use during a merger or acquisition.
