callable CD

Definition

Callable Certificate of Deposit. A type of CD that can be redeemed by the issuing company before the maturity date. Depending on the specific instrument, the CD can be purchased back at par value or with an additional premium. These products will generally have a higher yield when compared to non-callable CDs because of the risk that the company could call it back.
