Constant Proportion Debt Obligation (CPDO)
Definition
A new type of credit derivative, first issued in 2006. CPDOs were initially rated very highly, despite their high volatility. CPDOs offer long-term exposure to credit risk, and are similar to collateralized debt obligations. After the credit crisis in 2007-2008, many CPDOs significantly decreased in value.
