The company started off as a mutual funds company and evolved to provide products ranging from 401(K) Rollovers to College Planning. The company also seeks to enrich consumers' knowledge about the investment tools that are available to them by publishing important information on their website. Fidelity Investments was founded in 1946 and has expanded over time to have offices across the continental United States.

After the stock purchase plan was executed the stocks were held in a Fidelity Investments account. The owner could then sell or hold their stocks from the website.
