selling climax

Definition

Reversal in the direction of a stock's price following a rally or an extended period of declines. Prices can be driven lower as investors collect gains acquired during the previous rally or can be pushed higher as investors start to buy more shares following a period of declines. A selling climax is a fairly common occurrence in the stock market.
