tax-exempt money market fund

Definition

Extremely liquid money market fund that only invests in short-term and tax-exempt municipal securities. The income that is derived from these investments may be minimal, but the income is tax-free nonetheless. Some tax-exempt money market funds provide higher yields depending on the current state of credit markets.
