triple tax exempt

Definition

Municipal bonds that are free of taxes from federal, local, and state authorities. Municipal bonds are generally tax-exempt from state and local taxes within the state, but some can be subject to taxation if the bond holder is not a resident of the state. Triple tax exempt municipal bonds prevent the bondholder from absorbing any taxes on the bonds.
