Definition

A type of loan that provides borrower's with a second opportunity at mortgage financing to improve their credit rating. The object of a second chance loan is to allow the borrower to make timely payment thus improving their credit score and eventually refinancing the mortgage at a lower interest rate. A second chance loan is considered a subprime loan due to the fact that it carries a very high interest rate.
