additional paid-in capital

Definition

Capital contributed to a corporation by investors on top of the par value of capital stock. In other words, the money that a company gets from potential investors in addition to the stated value of the stock. also called contributed capital or paid-in capital.

Use this term in a sentence

Any money in addition to payment of the stock is considered additional paid-in capital because it exceeds the value of the stock.
