Trusting Credit Rating Agencies

Don't trust the regulatory agencies to do their jobs, and don't trust the credit rating agencies either. Neither group looks closely enough to really evaluate the credit risks that companies are taking. (For evidence, simply consider Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were supposedly closely regulated and which fell apart.)
