Only that which gets measured gets improved. So record your rationale for buying each stock you buy, then check back to see how your picks performed relative to the overall market, and whether your rationale proved to be correct. Most people who make their own stock picking decisions think they're better than average, but when they look closely at their performance they discover that they're not.
