When deciding which experts are worth listening to, don't focus on the pundits who sound the most persuasive, but rather the investors who have consistently outperformed the appropriate benchmarks on a long term basis, with considerable amounts of their own money, without taking on more risk than you're comfortable with. Look for outperformance of ten years or more, since there are countless prognosticators who outperform for a few years due to luck and then revert to the mean, or worse.
