Bank with a credit union that carries private excess share insurance. Some credit unions that are members of the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) carry excess share insurance to provide members with additional coverage for their deposit accounts. For example, American Share Insurance provides an additional $250,000 for credit union account holders above the NCUA's $250,000 limit.
